Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Jimi Agbaje has described himself as a sincere and devoted person whose ambition is for the common good.

Mr Agbaje made this statement while speaking with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.

The third-time runner said his desire to serve is essentially for service unlike “those who are in the race for self and for godfathers who must be regularly maintained and appeased with tax payers’ money.

“For the umpteenth time, let me state again that I am in this race, like the previous ones fundamentally to change Lagos State and also maximize our unique opportunities as a mega city and a state of choice for tourists and other categories of visitors.

“The good news is that I am genuine. I am also not your everyday politician who says what he does not mean. To be candid, I love Lagos and I show off my Lagos.

“I defend Lagos every time and anywhere I have the opportunity. I am a proud Lagosian and I want the best for my state,” Agbaje said.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Agbaje’s campaign Modupe Ogunbayo has responded to the claims of All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos governorship candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu that Agbaje’s campaign slogan Freedom for Lagos is mischievous.

Mrs Ogunbayo described Mr Sanwo-Olu’s statement as a ‘feeble diversionary response.’

“When Mr. Olujimi Kolawole  Agbaje talks about “Freedom for Lagos”,  the PDP gubernatorial candidate is not referring to physical chains and hooks of bondage but a strangulation of the public economic space in Lagos by one man who has turned Lagos coffers to an extension of his piggy bank and the political space in Lagos to a mere metaphor for the realisation of his fantasies,” Mrs Ogunbayo said.
