As the Muslim community prepares for the holy month of Ramadan, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has stressed the importance of unity and integrity among Islamic scholars. Speaking at the annual pre-Ramadan meeting in Kaduna, the President-General of JNI, Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, called for Muslims to unite under one umbrella, despite their differences in understanding Islam. He cautioned against allowing these differences to lead to insults or division within the community.

The Sultan emphasized that no one holds a monopoly on knowledge, urging humility and a recognition that others may possess greater insight. He highlighted that scholars must adhere to ethical guidelines and avoid divisive behavior to ensure a positive and uplifting Ramadan experience for all.

Prof. Khalid Aliyu, the Secretary-General of JNI, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the critical role of scholars in fostering unity and understanding. He called for responsible scholarship, urging scholars to avoid personal opinions and sectarian propaganda. With the rise of social media, Aliyu noted the challenges of misinformation and divisive ideologies and stressed the importance of using these platforms responsibly.

To guide scholars, JNI has set clear guidelines for Tafsir sessions, which emphasize scholarly ethics and wisdom. The meeting, which saw attendance from various Emirs, Islamic scholars, and academics, reinforced the need for wisdom, humility, and a focus on promoting unity and integrity within the Muslim community.
