On behalf of the nation and the people of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated the 65th birthday of the late President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GFCR, on November 20, 2022.
In a statement released by his media adviser, Femi Adesina, President Buhari referred to the former president’s special role in the growth and development of the country. The former leader gave up his personal ambition for the benefit of the nation, winning the hearts of Nigerians and the rest of the world by spreading his legacy of peace and amity to many other nations.
The President celebrated a new milestone in the former President’s life with his family, especially his wife Patience and mother Eunice. He reflected on the former President’s political career, which was clearly shaped by the mercies and grace of the Almighty God, beginning as a deputy governor from 1999 to 2005, governor from 2005 to 2007, vice president from 2007 to 2010, and president from 2010 to 2015.
The President was of the opinion that Dr. Jonathan’s friendliness, loyalty, and humility continue to provide possibilities for him to serve humanity while also paving the way for him to make investments in individuals, organizations, and countries.
President Buhari prayed for Dr. Jonathan’s health and the health of his family as he turned 65.
