Two guys were detained by police in Kano State for reportedly scamming a rice dealer of N33,000 in the state’s Kano Municipal LGA while posing as journalists.

The suspects, Mujahid Kabir and Abba Imam, both 30 years old, are accused of purchasing a bag of rice at a Plaza in Sharada Quarters on February 2, 2023, using a fictitious bank transfer alert for N33,000.

The suspects were detained as a result of a tip-off, according to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. “The accused were discovered to be in possession of Vision FM Personnel Identity Cards during a spot search. Following a preliminary inquiry, the suspects admitted to going to the Kano Vision FM Radio station, stealing two personnel identity cards, and fabricating duplicates with their names and pictures on them.

They also admitted to visiting the aforementioned plaza in Sharada Quarters, where they bought a bag of rice and staged a transaction with the cashier, according to the statement.
