In the ongoing election for Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, the chosen candidate of the All Progressives Congress, crossed the winning margin to the delight of the House of Representatives.
A roll call of members-elect revealed that 359 out of 360 members are taking part in the proceedings.
There are three competitors, and the winner is predicted to prevail by a simple majority.
Members-elect have “openly declared” their support for Abbas in a significant majority.
Ahmed Wase, the outgoing Deputy Speaker, and Sani Jaji, who have one and two votes so far, respectively, are on the edge of losing to Abbas.
