Today, an airplane flying the colors of Nigeria Air was spotted at Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
Later today, the plane is due to touch down at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Recall that Hadi Sirika, the minister of aviation, had said that a plane flying the flag of Nigeria Air will be arriving in Nigeria in less than a day.
But with only 72 hours left in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, the development has caused a severe outcry as stakeholders and experts questioned the launch’s justification.
Additionally, they questioned how the plane could land in the nation without an Air Operating Certificate (AOC) from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
“This is very poor indeed and a complete reflection of the entire shoddy plan by the Federal Government,” said Sindy Foster, Principal Partner at Avaero Capital.

Additionally, Dr. Alex Nwuba, President of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Nigeria (AOPAN), questioned whether there could be any good in something so negative.
“This might have been the best thing, but nuclear waste contaminated it.
What a chance for greatness!” What will you do with this at this point?
“You must despise mediocrity if you want to reach perfection. The green, white, and green are not represented by this. But why the judgment?
He asks, “Is this the path to lofty heights, for a great nation, and to soar in aviation?” while quoting the country’s national anthem.
“Nigeria is more than how some people would have it to be. I completely reject this project, and I’m convinced that we’ll find a different direction to follow in the coming days to go where we want to go,” he continued.
