Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is not in its custody, according to the Department of State Services (DSS).
On Friday, there were rumors that Emefiele had been arrested by the Service not long after the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had suspended him.
However, the Service had remained silent over the development.
In a WhatsApp message sent on Saturday, the DSS’s spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunanya, stated: “Emefiele is not currently with the DSS.”
He made no additional comment.
