Hundreds of wounded Palestinians were seeking sanctuary in a Gaza City hospital when a suspected Israeli airstrike struck, killing them, the health ministry said.

In the five battles Israel has fought since 2008, if proven, the attack would be by far the deadliest Israeli airstrike. Images from the al-Ahli Hospital showed bodies strewn all over the place, broken glass, and flames consuming the hospital hallways. The Israeli military has denied any role in the explosion that occurred in the Gaza hospital, stating that a Palestinian rocket that misfired was to blame.
