Babatunji wusu –
On Monday, President Bola Tinubu was briefed on the student loan program.
After meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Akintunde Sawyerr, the Executive Secretary of the Students Loan Board, disclosed this to reporters from the State House.
On the other hand, Sawyerr hinted that the plan would soon begin in January, though he did not say when.
He emphasized the program’s inclusivity, guaranteeing direct tuition payments to universities with no human participation in the application process.
Sawyerr added that the program would be financed by the school tax and that it intends to support both academic and professional endeavors.
On June 12, 2023, President Tinubu signed the student loan bill into law, removing financial obstacles that prevent Nigerians from pursuing higher education.
