A building under construction in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has collapsed, sparking panic and concern among residents and passersby. The structure, reportedly owned by a fast-growing eatery brand, came crashing down on Sunday afternoon along the bustling Dugbe-Mokola road.

The building, which had recently been acquired by the food chain for a new branch outlet, was undergoing renovation or possible reconstruction at the time of the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, details remain sketchy. It is not yet clear whether there were casualties or injuries, as emergency responders were yet to provide an official statement. However, eyewitnesses reported seeing debris strewn across the area, with some construction materials scattered on the road, partially disrupting traffic.

The collapsed building is located in a busy commercial corridor of Ibadan, heightening fears over potential safety lapses and construction violations.

Authorities from the Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (OYSEMA) and the Ibadan North Local Government Council are expected to visit the site and commence an investigation into the cause of the collapse.

This incident comes amid rising concerns over building integrity and regulatory enforcement across urban centers in Nigeria.
