Alhaji Ahmadu Kurfi, the District Head of Kurfi in Katsina State, has passed away at the age of 93. Kurfi was a prominent figure in Nigerian history, notably serving as the executive secretary of the defunct Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) during the Second Republic, which later evolved into the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Born in 1931, Kurfi was not only a revered traditional leader but also a distinguished civil servant. He held several key positions at the federal level, including deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence during the 1966 coup and permanent secretary in the Office of the Head of Service.
