Tunji Wusu –
On Monday, a coalition of civil society organizations stormed the streets of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, to protest economic hardship and other difficulties confronting Nigerians.
The demonstrators were against President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s recent withdrawal of petrol subsidies, floating of the Naira, and other measures.
Remember that the organization issued a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government a week ago to put in place palliatives to mitigate the effects of the elimination of petrol subsidies on Nigerians.
Comrade Waheed Lawal, the coalition’s chairman, argued that there was no denying the existence of poverty, hunger, bewilderment, and dissatisfaction in the country, adding that fury was being bottled up and that it was simply a time for Nigerians to unleash their rage.
As a result, members of the Human Rights group took to the streets around 8 a.m. after congregating in Osogbo’s Ayetoro neighbourhood, going to main parts of the city with placards to urge their demands.
