Babatunji Wusu –

Umar Damagum, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) acting national chairman, responded to the Supreme Court’s decision about the 2023 presidential election.

As previously reported by Naija News, on Thursday the Supreme Court confirmed President Bola Tinubu as the victor of the election held on February 25, 2023.

In its decision, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeals submitted by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.

Speaking about the court’s decision on Monday, Damagum declared that the fight for the nation’s independence had begun.

This was said by the PDP Chairman to party stakeholders during a global press conference for Atiku.

Damagum remarked, “We know what happened underground, so even though we are disappointed, we are not deterred.” People are not celebrating because of the state of affairs in our nation.

He urged journalists to accurately record what the former vice president will say, saying, “We want Nigerians to know our position.” The conflict will begin today. We are unwavering. It is not appropriate to discourage any PDP member.

The former vice president will speak to foreign and Nigerian communities regarding the Supreme Court’s decision.
