A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has filed a lawsuit seeking a court order to prevent the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from annulling the planned National Executive Council meeting scheduled for Thursday. The lawsuit, initiated by Imam Auwal at the Zamfara High Court in the Gusau Judicial Division, aims to have an earlier injunction from the Abuja Federal High Court—barring the PDP from removing its acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum—set aside.
As of now, it remains unclear how the opposing faction, aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, will respond to this development. Further updates are anticipated.
