Kayode Egbetokun was honored with his new rank by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House just 24 hours after he was appointed as the new acting Inspector-General of Police.

The ceremony, which began at 1 p.m., was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali.

The incoming police chief, who spoke to journalists shortly after, said he feels “like a tiger ready to devour Nigeria’s internal enemies” as he prepares to take office at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu approved the immediate retirement of the Chief of Defence Staff, all of the nation’s service leaders, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali, on Monday night.

As a result, Tinubu appointed Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff, DIG Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police, and Maj. Gen.
