Babatunji Wusu –

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has distanced itself from a viral publication that claimed a statewide electrical outage was impending as a result of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) strike.

On Tuesday, several organized labor affiliates followed the strike mandate and ceased their services.

TCN, on the other hand, has quickly denied that it participated in the strike, claiming that a media report about a looming countrywide blackout was false.

The TCN emphasized that an online news platform’s allegation that TCN’s Head of Public Affairs forecasted a statewide power outage is false and misleading.

TCN management stated in a statement made on Tuesday and uploaded on its official X account that the Public Affairs Head did not make such a comment. The announcement also indicated that the country’s power grid is fully operational and continues to supply significant electricity to distribution load centers around the country.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria hereby states that the Daily Post publication alleging that TCN’s Head of Public Affairs said there would be a national blackout is false and completely misleading.”

“The statement is deceptive and without foundation, as TCN did not make such a statement through the Public Affairs Head.”

“We hereby confirm that the nation’s grid is operational and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centers across the country.”

The TCN National Control Centre Osogbo, which supervises bulk power transmission countrywide, is active as of the time of this declaration,” the electricity transmission firm declared.
