Tunji Wusu –
Abba Kyari, the temporarily suspended leader of the Nigeria Police Response Team, has been given bail.
Kyari was granted bail on Thursday by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to SaharaReporters.
After Kyari and two of his siblings were suspected of failing to disclose their assets to the NDLEA, they were charged. The 24 counts against Kyari and his two siblings, Mohammed Baba Kyari and Ali Kyari, were brought by the NDLEA and were marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/408/2022.
In the case of FRN vs. Abba Kyari and two others, Justice Omotosho granted Kyari conditional bail in the amount of N50 million with two sureties in the same amount who owned registered properties.
The sureties are required to hold assets worth N250 million in the region, while the principal is required to present his passport. However, SaharaReporters discovered from a court source that no one had yet arrived to complete his bail.
Abba Kyari will however continue to be imprisoned as a result of his narcotics case before Justice Emeka Nwite.
