Tunji Wusu –
The Department of State Services had asked for a 14-day “extended detention order” for suspended Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, but the Federal Capital Territory High Court denied their plea.
According to information obtained, the DSS legal counsel secretly filed the application on Wednesday, and it was presented to a judge who was on vacation.
The new evidence the DSS had found served as the foundation for its application.
According to Justice Hamza Muazu’s ruling, the applicant abused the legal system.
Additionally, he claimed that the court lacked the authority to hear the case.
According to reports, Emefiele was charged with illegally possessing a firearm and appeared before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Emefiele was released on N20 million bail and held in the Nigeria Correctional Service’s Ikoyi facility until the completion of his bail conditions, according to Justice Nicholas Oweibo.
The DSS stopped the prison system from accepting Emefiele.
But Emefiele was detained by the secret police, who then sped off.
