The litigation brought by a few State governors to contest the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign policy has been postponed by the Supreme Court until March 3.

This occurs a week after the court postponed the lawsuit until February 22 in order to merge all cases relating to the topic that originated from nine additional States of the Federal Republic that want to join the lawsuit.

The federal government’s Naira swap program was challenged in a lawsuit that was initially brought by the governments of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara State. Nine other states were added as parties.

The attorneys general of Katsina, Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, Cross River, and Sokoto States were joined as co-plaintiffs by a seven-member panel chaired by Justice John Okoro, while the attorneys general of Edo and Bayelsa States were joined as co-respondents.
