The United Arab Emirates overturned its months-long visa restriction on Nigerians on Monday.
This is because Etihad and Emirates Airlines will begin flights to Nigeria immediately.
The decision was made following discussions between Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, and his Emirati counterpart, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“On Monday in Abu Dhabi, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, signed a historic agreement that resulted in the immediate lifting of the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travelers.”
“Furthermore, by this historic agreement, both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are to immediately resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria, without any further delay,” said the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement signed Monday.
