Babatunji Wusu –

On November 11, 2023, the electoral body pronounced Uzodinma the winner of the Imo governorship election, and he was then given the certificate.

A number of dignitaries, including leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attended the function on Friday at the Rockview Hotel in Owerri.

Uzodinma received the most votes during the election, which led to his reelection for a further four years.

He garnered 540,308 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee secured the second position with 71,503 votes. Uzodinma won all 27 of the state’s Local Government Areas, according to the results declared by INEC.

The Labour Party’s Athan Achonu and the PDP’s Samuel Anyanwu were beaten by the re-elected governor.

Achonu, the LP candidate for governor, has promised not to celebrate Governor Uzodinma on his win in the governorship race on November 11, 2023.

In a statement made public by his representative, Chibuikem Diala, Achonu declared himself to be the election’s legitimate victor.

In response to a rumor that he visited Uzodinma and gave him congrats, Achonu declared that such notion was “wishful thinking that can never happen.”

As this government is widely known for, the statement called the rumours “a script from the pit of hell and could only be the handwork of evil minds.”

“The governor and his bootlickers are spreading fake news claiming that his opponents in last Saturday’s election paid him a congratulatory visit, after forcing the worst electoral heist on Imo State.”

The congrats article, in his words, was “childish and very poorly written.”

To be clear, Senator Achonu has now requested for a review and rejection of the results, vehemently rejecting the outcome announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

In addition, he co-hosted a press conference with PDP candidate Samuel Anyanwu, commonly known as SamDaddy, and demanded that the results of the governorship race be reexamined or canceled, threatening a popular uprising if INEC failed to act.
