Kaduna Police Investigates Alleged Assassination Attempt on Senator Usman Lawal

The Kaduna State Police Command has initiated an investigation into an alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District. The incident, reportedly carried out by unidentified individuals, surfaced via a post on the senator’s Facebook page.

In a statement released on Thursday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, disclosed that no formal report has been filed by the senator. The statement noted, “The attention of the command has been drawn to a publication on the Facebook account of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (PDP), alleging an assassination attempt by unknown assailants in an undisclosed location in Kaduna North on January 2, 2025. However, no specific time or further details were provided.”

Efforts to reach the senator for clarification have reportedly been unsuccessful. “Aside from the Facebook post, we have received no formal complaint from the distinguished senator, and attempts to contact him have yielded no results,” ASP Hassan added.

Reacting to the situation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, has directed a thorough investigation to uncover the facts surrounding the alleged incident.
