The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has appointed Sam Ifeanyi Hart, Esq. as his new Chief of Staff. Hart takes over from Hon. Toby Okechukwu, who was recently named the Executive Director of Projects at the newly established South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Hart previously served as Special Adviser to the Deputy Speaker on Public Affairs and has built an extensive career in training and consultancy. His professional background includes serving as Director-General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency from 2019 to 2023, as well as holding other significant public sector roles.

His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Law (LLM) from Abia State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Law. A recognized expert in leadership and governance, Hart has attended institutions such as the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), the GOTNI Leadership Centre, and the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG).

Hart is also a member of various professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Directors of Nigeria (M.IoD), the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (ACIArb), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). His experience spans across corporate and non-governmental sectors, having served on the boards of several organizations.

As Chief of Staff, Hart will be responsible for providing strategic direction and administrative oversight for the Deputy Speaker’s office, with a focus on policy development and governance initiatives.

The appointment was announced by Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.
