The Kano State House of Assembly has approved the reinstatement of the suspended Managing Director of Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Alhaji Bala Mohammed-Inuwa. The decision was announced on toda following the presentation of the report of its Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources that investigated the suspended official. The premier newspaper reports that managing director was suspended in December by the legislature for failing to appear before the committee on Agriculture to defend the company’s 2019 budget. He, however, sent a letter of apology to the Assembly, which was rejected by the legislators, insisting that he must first withdraw a statement he made through the media that the Assembly has no power to suspend him. The legislators had resolved that the company would have zero budgetary allocation in 2019, if Mohammed-Inuwa failed to abide by its decision. Presenting the report, Chairman of the committee, and member representing Dawakin Kudu Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad-Dawakiji, said the managing director had apologised to the assembly through the media and also appeared before it. “The KASCO Managing Director had appeared before our committee and he has also apologised to us and pledged not to repeat such. “We, the committee members, further call on the house to consider the apology and reinstate him, because he admitted to his wrong doings,” Muhammad-Dawakiji said. Following debate on the report during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum, the House called on Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje to reinstate the MD. They also directed the managing director to appear before the relevant committee of the assembly to defend the company’s budget.
