  • Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved a series of appointments and reassignments to enhance governance and service delivery.
  • Notable appointees include Jamila Magaji Abdullahi as the new Accountant General and Muhammad Yahaya Liman as Director of Treasury.
  • Akibu Isa Murtala has been promoted to Special Adviser on Administration, and Engr. Abubakar Sadiq has been appointed Deputy Managing Director of RUWASA.
  • A strategic committee has been established to revitalize the Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line), chaired by Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu.

In a strategic move to reinforce governance and improve service delivery, Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced several key appointments and reassignments across critical sectors of the state’s public service. The appointments, made public through a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasize the administration’s commitment to placing skilled professionals in essential roles to drive development and enhance financial management.

Among the new appointees is Jamila Magaji Abdullahi, who has been named the new Accountant General of the State. With over 16 years of experience in accounting and tax administration, Jamila brings extensive expertise in financial compliance, budgeting, and risk management. She holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy and a Master’s in Treasury Management from Bayero University, Kano.

Muhammad Yahaya Liman, a seasoned banker with over 16 years of experience, has been appointed as the new Director of Treasury. Holding a B.Sc. in Accounting, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management from Bayero University, Liman is well-equipped to lead the state’s financial operations.

Additionally, Akibu Isa Murtala has been promoted to Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office, from his previous role as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief of Staff. His promotion recognizes his pivotal role in ensuring efficient administrative coordination within the governor’s office.

Engr. Abubakar Sadiq, previously Deputy Managing Director of Kano Line, has been redeployed to serve as the Deputy Managing Director of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), where he will focus on improving rural water supply and sanitation infrastructure.

In a significant development for public transportation, Governor Yusuf has also established a strategic committee to revitalize the Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line). Chaired by Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, the committee will review and oversee the operations of Kano Line to ensure efficiency and sustainability in the next six months. Shu’aibu will also serve as the acting Managing Director of Kano Line.

Governor Yusuf congratulated all the appointees, stressing the importance of innovation, dedication, and accountability in their new roles. He encouraged them to work diligently to realize the administration’s vision for improved governance and service delivery, reinforcing the state’s commitment to fostering development and effective governance.
