The Special Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has reacted to the proposed meeting between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and President Bola Tinubu over the agitator’s continuing detention.
Ohanaeze President Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu disclosed plans to speak with Tinubu for Kanu’s release.
He made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Southeast chapter of the Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, led by the President, HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Abia State, at his Glass House Orji-Owerri office complex on Saturday.
He stated that the scheduled presidential visit will focus on the issues concerning the people of the South East geopolitical zone.
In response to the scheduled negotiation, Ejimakor reminded Ohanaeze that Kanu is the victim, not the criminal.
He claimed that if the administration had followed the law, the agitator should be free.
“In meeting with Tinubu, Ohaneze should be strictly guided by the fact that MAZI NNAMDI KANU would not be in detention if Nigeria abided by the law in not subjecting him to extraordinary rendition; or complied with the court orders to release him,” he wrote on his X account. He is the victim, not the antagonist.”
Falana, on the other hand, believes Olukoyede is qualified to lead the anti-graft commission because he has already worked in a senior capacity in the agency.
“There is no issue; the only issue that has been raised by the government is that we have in this country, the Federal Character Commission Act, and also by virtue of Section 14 of the constitution, appointments must reflect Federal Character,” he stated.
