Kenya on Monday reported 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 700.
The 28, all Kenyan citizens, were detected from 841 samples tested in the previous 24 hours, said Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Rashid Aman,
An additional 12 patients recovered and have been discharged from hospital over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 251, Aman told journalists in Nairobi.
One more patient died from the disease, pushing the toll in the country to 33, he said.
The government plans to offering expertise to frontline health workers in all health facilities around the country to help curb the community spread of the virus, Aman said.
He told Kenyans to be careful not to consume unverified traditional herbal medicines, adding that those on sale have not been approved by recognized government agencies.
“Let me warn that consumption of such concoctions can be detrimental to one’s health, and I appeal to Kenyans to visit designated health facilities for advice,” Aman said.
He said a technical team has been set up to determine the re-opening of hotels and restaurants and report to the government in the next week.
