Khabib Nurmagomedov, the former UFC champion, has claimed he was subjected to racist behavior after being removed from a flight in the United States on January 12. A video of the incident, which quickly gained attention on social media, shows Khabib leaving the aircraft after being asked to do so by airline staff.

In his social media post, Khabib expressed confusion over the situation, questioning why he was asked to leave the flight. He alleged that one of the staff members had been rude from the outset, despite his proficiency in English. Khabib further speculated whether the cause of the staff member’s actions was racial or national, stating that he wasn’t sure of the underlying reason.

The former MMA fighter detailed the sequence of events, mentioning that the staff member called security after a brief conversation, resulting in his removal from the flight. After waiting for an hour and a half, Khabib boarded another flight with a different airline to continue his journey. Throughout the ordeal, he emphasized that he remained calm and respectful, although he suggested that the crew could have handled the situation with more professionalism and courtesy.

In response, Michael Chandler, a former UFC lightweight title contender, took to social media to voice his disapproval. He criticized the handling of the situation, suggesting that Khabib’s ability to speak English should not have been an issue, especially given Khabib’s status as one of the greatest athletes in MMA history. Chandler also pointed out that the criteria for sitting in the exit row of an airplane typically only require the ability to understand simple instructions.
