Popular comedian Klint Da Drunk has opened up on why he abandoned his early dream of becoming a musician for a career in comedy.
Speaking in an interview with Naija FM Lagos, the comic star said he pursued music while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu, but a single moment changed everything. Klint recalled that watching music icon 2Face Idibia perform at a campus event convinced him that music was not his path.
According to him, he was scheduled to perform at the event but left the hall after hearing 2Face sing only “two lines.”
“They begged me to wait and perform after him. I agreed, but immediately he started singing, I went home,” Klint said. “I didn’t know our styles were different. If I had known, I would have continued making music. But thank God I didn’t. I love where I am.”
Before quitting music, Klint Da Drunk featured in Mr Raw’s hit track Obodo and co-founded a music group with the rapper. The group finished second in the Star Quest talent show in 2002, losing to KC Presh.
Since transitioning fully into comedy, Klint has built a successful career and starred in more than a dozen Nollywood films, including Men On The Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash, and Lost Kingdom.
