The Kogi State Police Command has announced the arrest of 239 suspects involved in various criminal activities between February and May 2025. The suspects include:

66 alleged armed robbers

75 suspected kidnappers

18 individuals charged with culpable homicide

21 arrested for unlawful possession of firearms

21 suspects for rape
-
6 for cultism
-
49 others involved in heinous crimes
Kogi State Police Commissioner, Miller Dantawaye, revealed these details during a press briefing in Lokoja on Tuesday. The command also recovered significant weapons during its operations, including:

In addition to these arrests, Commissioner Dantawaye emphasized that the command has strengthened its crime-fighting efforts by training officers. Last week, the Command’s Course 7 participants graduated from the ongoing Refresher Combat Operation Training Exercise.
As part of the comprehensive crime prevention strategy, the Kogi Police have intensified patrols along major highways, raided criminal hideouts, conducted aggressive stop-and-search operations, and deployed well-trained, equipped officers. These efforts align with the Inspector-General of Police’s community policing strategies aimed at enhancing public trust in police services.
The Commissioner called on community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to support the police in ensuring public safety and combating crime in the state.
