The Kogi State Government has confirmed a jailbreak at the Federal Correctional Center in Kotonkarfe, where 12 inmates escaped in the early hours of Monday. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the incident as “unfortunate” and emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing security lapses.
Authorities have raised concerns over the nature of the escape, noting that the inmates allegedly fled through a tower without causing structural damage. This has prompted a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possibility of internal sabotage.
