The Kwankwasiyya Movement has hailed political appointees who voluntarily resigned their positions in Kano State, describing their actions as a bold display of integrity and loyalty to principle.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, Ph.D., the Movement praised former Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, and other office holders for sacrificing personal comfort and official privileges in solidarity with the Movement’s leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The Movement said the resignations underscored a deep commitment to conviction and selfless service, noting that the affected appointees took their decisions with full knowledge of the benefits attached to their offices.
It disclosed that Senator Kwankwaso had earlier urged those who resigned to reconsider, stressing that governance should remain anchored on service rather than personal or political vendettas. Despite this counsel, the Movement explained that the appointees insisted their personal convictions could not align with the directives of the Ganduje-led government in Kano State, prompting their exit.
Beyond the resignations, the Movement also commended the Deputy Governor, a serving Senator, members of the House of Representatives, members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and local government councillors who it said have resisted inducements and pressure to abandon their electoral mandates.
According to the statement, such firmness strengthens public trust in representative democracy and reinforces the value of principled leadership.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement further advised those still holding office for transitional, special assignment, or personal reasons to uphold professionalism, civility, and restraint. It assured that the Movement would continue to extend goodwill to individuals who act responsibly and avoid statements or actions capable of undermining or intimidating its leader or members.
Reaffirming its unity, the Movement said history would ultimately honour those who stood firm at what it described as a defining moment, stressing that it remains focused and undeterred despite mounting pressures.
