Kwara Governor Donates Vehicles to Religious Leaders

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented four vehicles to the Chief Imam of Ilorin and other prominent Islamic leaders in the Ilorin Emirate, despite growing concerns over the worsening Kwara insecurity affecting several communities across the state.

The presentation took place at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace, where the governor handed over a brand-new Toyota Prado SUV to Chief Imam Sheikh Bashir Dasuki. The donation also included a bus for the Council of Ulama, a jeep for Imam Gambari, and another vehicle for Imam Imale. According to the state government, the gesture formed part of its support for religious institutions in the state.

The latest donation came only a week after the governor presented vehicles to the Kwara State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

However, the development has attracted public attention as several communities continue to face deadly attacks linked to armed bandits. Recent reports indicate that Lata Nna in Patigi Local Government Area came under attack, leaving at least one woman dead, another resident abducted, and several others feared killed. Residents said the attackers stormed the community, fired indiscriminately, and forced many families to flee for safety.

The deteriorating Kwara insecurity situation has also seen kidnappings increase. Reports revealed that another resident, Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada Lata, was abducted while returning from his farm, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding ₦100 million for his release.

As Kwara insecurity continues to affect communities, many residents have renewed calls for stronger security measures and increased government intervention to protect lives and restore peace across the state.
