The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has expressed regret over the death of Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore (retired), a former Justice of the Court of Appeal.
The Governor, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, expressed his sadness at the demise of the great jurist and patriot.
Belgore, the former presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, died on Tuesday night.
In response to the retired judge’s death, the governor expressed his profound sympathies to the whole Ilorin Emirate, whose distinguished son the jurist was, the bar and bench, and the Belgores, who had lost a precious gem.
Governor Abdulrazaq praised Justice Belgore as a legal titan and a prominent community leader who offered a shoulder for people to lean on.
The Kwara State Governor requested that Allaah forgive Justice Belgore’s shortcomings, admit him to al-jannah Firdaus, and grant fortitude to the Belgores and everyone who mourns him.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, has joined other concerned citizens in grieving the death.
The king regarded Justice Belgore’s death as a significant loss to both the Ilorin Emirate and the nation as a whole.
The Emir sent his sympathies to both the deceased’s near and distant family, as well as the whole Ilorin community and the people of Nigeria as a whole.
