Dr. Adio Adebowale, who is accused of kidnapping and murdering two women in the state, has been suspended indefinitely by the Kwara State Government.
This is because Adebowale’s position as a licensed physician and a member of the Nigeria Medical Association has been confirmed by the state division of the association.
Two women, one of whom was his fiancée, were allegedly slain by Adebowale, the chief medical director of Kaiama General Hospital in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara, and buried in various locations.
The Senior Staff Management Committee of the state Ministry of Health, which is in charge of enforcing disciplinary action against senior members of the Kwara State Health Management Board, placed Adebowale on suspension, according to information obtained by The Premier News on Tuesday in Ilorin.
When speaking about the matter, the state’s commissioner for health, Dr. Raji Razaq, added, “Yes, I’m confirming to you that he has been suspended and his income has been stopped until the conclusion of an inquiry into his activities by the security authorities.
“He is suspected of having committed a crime. We must put him on leave and stop paying him. As you are aware, a person is presumed innocent unless and unless the alleged offence is established beyond a reasonable doubt by a court of competent jurisdiction. As a result, we must wait for additional actions to be taken while the investigation is ongoing. Before we do anything else, we shall wait until the investigation is over and the defendant has been found guilty by the court.
When contacted, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, the chairman of the Kwara State Health Management Board, verified that Adebowale is a board member but stated he was only recently appointed and therefore couldn’t comment on the suspension.
Malik was asked to remark on the personality of the Medical Director, but he declined, claiming to not know anything about him.
I was just appointed by the government two weeks ago, so I can’t say much about him at this moment, the man added.
Adebowale is a member of the association and is employed by the state government, according to Dr. Abdulkadir Ahmed, chairman of the NMA’s Kwara State Branch, who made the announcement in Ilorin on Tuesday.
