Babatunji Wusu –
Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of State for Labor, has requested that President Bola Tinubu disregard requests by certain young members of the Labour Party (LP) to have her appointment withdrawn. The minister stated that the demand to revoke her appointment was merely another anti-minister campaign and ought to be disregarded.
In response to the Labour Party’s request that the minister be relieved of her duties due to purported lack of focus, Onyejeocha reacted.
At a press conference, the party’s National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, asserted that the minister had been distracted and had not been paying attention to the task at hand.
Ahanotu further charged that the minister was to blame for a few internal Labour Party crises.
“We are calling on the current government to relieve Onyejeocha of her ministerial role as she has lost focus and has refused to concentrate on the assignment given to her,” stated the Youth Leader of the Labour Party. Nigerians ought to take notice of the “unholy alliance” that Onyejeocha has formed with a few expelled Labour Party members, headed by Chief Lamidi Apapa, whose goal is to keep the party in a state of chronic crisis.
In response, the minister dissociated herself from any internal turmoil inside the Labour Party, stating that they ought to resolve their self-inflicted internal strife and give her some space.
The minister claimed that the event was just another funded campaign directed towards her, particularly because it occurred less than a day after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) members warned some of her detractors both inside and outside the organization.
