The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Public-Private Partnerships, named Messrs CCECC-CRCCIG Consortium as the chosen bidder for the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge project on Friday.

Mr Ope George, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Private Partnerships, disclosed at the PPP Office in Ikeja that the Fourth Mainland Bridge (4MB) Project, a proposed PPP transport infrastructure development, will include the construction and operation of a greenfield tolled road and bridge with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, as well as the development of adjacent real estates.

When finished, the Bridge will be the second longest in Africa, featuring three toll plazas, nine interchanges, a 4.5km Lagoon Bridge, and an eco-friendly environment. It is also expected to cover 37 kilometers, beginning at Abraham Adesanya in Ajah on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and continuing north west to the Lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu/Isawo in Ikorodu.

“You will recall that the Lagos State Government initiated a Competitive Bidding process for the selection of a Concessionaire, with the issue of the Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) on the 27th of November, 2019,” George says. A total of 52 replies were received, 32 of which were responsive.

“Subsequently, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) was issued on February 10, 2020 to the 32 qualified applicants and answers were received on 15th April, 2020 with a total of 15 responses. Six bidders met the criteria for moving on to the Request for Proposal (RfP) stage after being evaluated.”

George stated that the offers had been assessed and that Messrs. The CCECC-CRCCIG Consortium was chosen as the preferred bidder, whereas Messrs. The reserved bidder for the Fourth Mainland Bridge project is MOTA-ENGIL (NIGERIA & AFRICA), CCCC & CRBC CONSORTIUM.

According to the Special Adviser, the Bridge will relieve congestion on the current Carter, Eko, and Third Mainland Bridges while opening up new regions of the City for future growth.
