In a tragic incident in Festac, Lagos, the police have apprehended a 47-year-old man named Emmanuel Chukwuma, known as Oliver, for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Bosede Adefehinti, aged 45, on 7th Avenue. The couple, who were not married but lived together as partners, reportedly had a history of disputes.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Vanguard, the altercation leading to the stabbing was fueled by the man’s feelings of inferiority. Oliver, who was unemployed, assisted his girlfriend in selling herbal medicines known as Agbo. The witness mentioned that Oliver often faced humiliation from customers while his girlfriend temporarily left the shop.
The violent episode unfolded around 2:30 pm when Oliver allegedly stabbed Bosede. Distressed by his actions, he attempted to end his own life by jumping into a well, but bystanders intervened and alerted the police.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that upon receiving a distress call, officers promptly arrived at the scene. They arrested Oliver, who had attempted to hide in the well. The police documented the crime scene and awaited health officials for the necessary procedures, including the transfer of Bosede’s body to the mortuary.
Hundeyin indicated that the case has been transferred to the Homicide section at Panti for further investigation and legal proceedings.
