A former member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has hailed the peaceful conduct of the congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, declaring that the development signals the party’s readiness to reclaim power in the state in 2027.

Lam-Adesina also applauded the emergence of new party executives following the congress held on Tuesday.

During the exercise, the Oyo chapter of the APC elected Moses Adeyemo as its new state chairman. Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, previously served as deputy governor of the state under the late Abiola Ajimobi from 2011 to 2019.

In a statement issued by his media office on Thursday, Lam-Adesina said the peaceful conduct of the congresses across wards, local government areas, and the state demonstrates that the APC structure in Oyo is firmly positioned ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stressed that Adeyemo’s emergence as chairman, through consensus, underscores the unity within the party and strengthens its chances of returning to power.

Lam-Adesina described the new chairman as a unifying figure whose political and administrative experience would reposition the party for victory.

“Congratulations to our dear father and the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State. His emergence is, without doubt, the dawn of a new era for the party,” Lam-Adesina said.

“He is bringing his years of political and administrative experience to lead the party to victory next year.”

He added that the party’s leadership and members are determined to reclaim the state from the opposition.

“This is the time for us to take the state back from the opposition, and we are ready to do that with the new chairman and his executives in front of us,” he stated.

Meanwhile, according to the adjusted 2026 schedule of nationwide congresses and convention activities of the APC, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses were scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 4.

The party also fixed the purchase and submission of forms for the zonal congresses and the national convention between Thursday, March 13, and Monday, March 16.

In addition, the APC scheduled the inauguration of Zonal Congresses Screening and Screening Appeal Committees, Zonal Congresses, Zonal Congresses Appeal Committees, and National Convention Screening and Screening Appeal Committees for Monday, March 23.
