With more than 3.1 million votes cast, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant lead their respective conferences in the first round of NBA All-Star voting by fans.
In the Western Conference frontcourt voting, Denver’s Nikola Jokic and James’ teammate, Anthony Davis, trail James. Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks lead the voting in the backcourt.
All four have received over 2 million votes.
In the East, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, and Boston’s Jayson Tatum have each received over 2 million votes in frontcourt voting, as has the Celtics’ Kyrie Irving in the backcourt. Donovan Mitchell of Cleveland is the second most popular guard in the East, with 1.6 million votes.
Fans account for half of all All-Star voting. The other half is split evenly between NBA players and the media.
The game is set for February 19 in Salt Lake City.
Voting is still open. Friday is “3-for-1 Day,” which means that every fan vote will be counted three times.
