This trend demonstrates how women in the banking sector are becoming more trustworthy, dependable, and professional.
As of right present, at least 10 Nigerian banks have female CEOs in charge. Adaora Umeoji was most recently named the new GMD/CEO of Zenith Bank.
In a corporate filing on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) on Tuesday, the bank made the news. Michael Osilima, its secretary, signed the document.
Umeoji will become the bank’s first female employee when her appointment takes effect on June 1, 2024, according to the financial institution.
She will take over for Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose five-year term as GMD/CEO ends on May 31, 2024, according to the bank.
According to the bank’s corporate filing, Umeoji was Zenith’s Deputy Managing Director starting on October 28, 2016, before being appointed CEO.
Two additional women, including Yetunde Oni, were named managing director/CEO of Union Bank of Nigeria in January prior to the announcement.
