Lynn died on October 4 at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, according to her family. The singer had a career that some may consider legendary, releasing 60 studio albums, making it to the top of the US national charts 16 times, and being nominated for 18 Grammy Awards.

She married Oliver Lynn when she was between 15 and 21 years old, and they were together for 48 years despite Oliver’s repeated adultery and struggles with alcoholism. Oliver died, however, in 1996. Three of the six children they had together were born before Lynn turned 30.

As someone from a low socioeconomic background who was born into a coal mining family, Lynn’s rise to prominence is recognized as one of the most motivating success stories in the US.

Dolly Parton paid tribute to Loretta Lynn after her death at the age of 90, calling the late singer a “great talent.”

The singer added, “So sorry to hear about my sister, friend Loretta.

“She was a lovely human being,” I said. “We’ve been like sisters for the years we’ve been in Nashville.”

Carole King, Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jack White have all paid tribute to Lynn, most known for the song Coal Miner’s Daughter.

White, who worked with the celebrity on an album in 2004, referred to her as a “mother figure” and “the finest female singer-songwriter of the 20th century.”

Coal Miners’ Daughter is worth hearing.
