Madison Keys delivered another impressive display to secure her third Eastbourne title, defeating Tatjana Maria of Germany 7-5, 6-4 in Saturday’s final of the prestigious Wimbledon warm-up tournament. The American second seed handled the hot conditions with confidence, wrapping up the match in just 93 minutes to lift her first trophy since winning her maiden Australian Open title last year.

The victory places Madison Keys alongside legendary champions Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova as a three-time winner at Eastbourne. It also marked sweet revenge after Maria defeated her in the grass-court semi-finals at Queen’s Club last season. Ranked world number 27, Maria had reached the final after finishing runner-up at the Trophée Clarins in Paris in May, but Keys stayed in control from start to finish and faced only one break point throughout the contest.

The Eastbourne title continues a remarkable record for Madison Keys, who first won the event 12 years ago before adding another crown in 2023. Saturday’s triumph became the 11th WTA title of her career and came in her 16th tour final. She also now boasts four career grass-court titles, including her victory in Birmingham a decade ago.

The Eastbourne title provides ideal momentum ahead of Wimbledon, which begins on Monday. Keys, who has never progressed beyond the quarter-finals at the All England Club, opens her campaign against fellow American Kayla Day on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the men’s final between France’s Ugo Humbert and Belgium’s Zizou Bergs was suspended because of heavy rain after only three games. Humbert will resume with a 2-1 lead on Sunday before the pair meet again in the opening round of Wimbledon next week. It marks only the third time since 1990 that finalists from one tournament have faced each other in the first round of a Grand Slam the following week.
