The welfare of the people in the State will always be the first concern of the Seyi Makinde-led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration, according to the governor of Oyo’s wife, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde.
Mrs. Makinde added that since taking office, her husband’s administration has launched numerous initiatives around the State to raise the standard of living for citizens.
The First Lady maintained that the projects would directly affect people’s lives in the area while speaking in Ibadan during the launching of borehole projects in Ibadan Southeast constituency 1 and 2.
“Water is life, and no one can exist without it, thus this initiative will bring life, lower the cost of access to portable water, and provide a means of livelihood to those who need it,” she said.
“The weather in Ibadan in the last quarter of the year is often dry, and as the earth dries, people face the problem of drought. This water will be helpful to kids, parents, and neighborhood petty traders.” The Governor has addressed every issue, including building interstate and city roads, improving the state’s educational system, paying salaries, providing proper security, and providing health insurance, among others.
However, she urged locals to look after, safeguard, and keep an eye on the initiatives.
Governor Makinde is highly concerned about the welfare of the people and wants the best for everyone in the State, according to Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Hon. Daud Sangodoyin.
According to him, the projects are a part of efforts to reach out to and have an effect on the state’s residents in order to foster economic growth and state development.
The provision of water is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that Nigeria and the rest of the world have as a priority, and the governor is making a difference in people’s lives by installing boreholes for the residents of Ibadan southeast, the man stated.
“The Governor has personally started several initiatives across local government, and free healthcare services are not an exception.”
Sangodoyin, however, warned that further projects aimed at improving the population’s security, health, and well-being should be expected.
