A middle-aged guy named Ezekiel was electrocuted in the Federal Capital Territory’s Utako neighborhood while attempting to steal a high-tension wire.
The incident happened late on a Saturday.
Ezekiel suffered significant burns as a result of the event, according to a commercial driver who only wanted to be known as Hassan who spoke to our correspondent on Sunday.
He declared, “Ezekiel, a man, was electrocuted this early morning. He was electrocuted while attempting to steal a wire from a high-tension cable owned by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.
“We heard the man’s cry in the night together with the sound of an electrical spark.
“I would have assumed that he intended to commit himself if it weren’t for the fact that a saw, pliers, and torchlight were dispersed on the ground. But he went there for a task equipped with such tools. The man had multiple burn injuries but was fortunate not to have died.
Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence.
“Our soldiers came upon him while on patrol; he had significant burns, and they brought him to the Wuse General Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment,” Adeh said. He will undoubtedly face charges, but we won’t do that until after he has fully recovered. We have his tools in our possession.
