In response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s incendiary interview with Piers Morgan, Manchester United has “started proper steps.”
The whole video of the 90-minute debate in which Ronaldo lambasted United manager Erik ten Hag, teammates, and the owners was awaiting evaluation by the Premier League club’s legal team.
The club declared on Friday that it has “taken proper procedures this morning in reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview.” “Until this process is over, we won’t be making any more comments.”
Portugal’s 37-year-old Ronaldo is in Qatar to compete in his fifth World Cup. However, it appears as though the forward’s time at Old Trafford is done. This was the case even before the complete interview aired on Wednesday and Thursday.
The small number of teams that can afford his stated wage of roughly 500,000 pounds ($590,000) per week has made a potential exit difficult. But the transaction might be canceled if he is discovered to have broken the terms of the agreement.
Officials from United were unaware that any interviews had occurred and had to wait until they were shown on TalkTV before deciding the club’s legal stance.
United added that it wanted the procedure to be over quickly.
Since Ten Hag assumed leadership at the conclusion of the previous season, Ronaldo’s remarks have added to a contentious few months.
When the Portugal international refused to replace Wayne Rooney against Tottenham, United’s boss already dismissed him from the team and had him practice alone.
Ronaldo stated, “I believe he doesn’t respect (me) in the manner I should expect). But that is how things are. That is presumably the reason I exited the game against Tottenham. I say I don’t respect him because he doesn’t respect me, for this reason.
We are in that circumstance because of this. I have to be honest and say that’s the reason why things aren’t going well. Because empathy is nonexistent.
Ronaldo opened the door for a potential departure in the January transfer window by failing to seal a deal to a Champions League club during the offseason.
“Maybe having a new chapter is good for Manchester and maybe is good for me as well,” he remarked. “Probably. But I’m not sure.
“If I come back, I’ll still be Cristiano. But I’m hoping that people will support me and allow me to shine like I always did in clubs.
