Manchester United have agreed a £44 million deal to sign Fred from Shaktar Donetsk, according to reports.
The Brazilian midfielder has been at the centre of transfer speculation in the last few months following reports of huge scouting from major clubs in Europe. United are believed to be one of the front-runners for the midfielder and has even contacted the player’s representatives.
It is understood that Jose Mourinho is looking to bring in a new face into his midfield set-up following his side’s dismal performance in the last season. Prior reports also suggested that city rivals, Manchester City have turned their gaze to Napoli’s Jorginho, leaving the Red Devils as the major contender for Fred’s signature.

Although, there were talks that Manchester United were unhappy with the player’s slow response during talks, incensing fears that French giants, Paris Saint Germain were already looking to fight for the player’s signature this summer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Red Devils have now reached an agreement to sign Fred from Shaktar, with hopes of meeting his agent next week when Brazil play Croatia in a warm-up friendly at Anfield.
