Shakhtar Donetsk, the only remaining Ukrainian team in this season’s European championships, was paired against Feyenoord. Due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, Shakhtar will host the opening leg in the neighboring country of Poland.
Sporting Lisbon will take on Premier League front-runner Arsenal in a match that will have its opening leg in Portugal.
Because the eight teams that won their Europa League groups played their second legs at home, Arsenal was given a seeding in the draw. The teams that finished second and third in their respective Champions League groups and the runners-up in the Europa League qualified for the playoff round as the unseeded teams hosting the first leg.
Juventus and Freiburg were matched up, and six-time champion Sevilla will face Fenerbahce at home first. Union Berlin and Union Saint-Gilloise will reunite after meeting twice in the group stage as well.
Real Sociedad will be the opponent for Jose Mourinho’s Roma, and Ferencvaros will be the opponent for Bayer Leverkusen.
On May 31, Puskas Arena in Budapest will host the Europa League final.
