Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, nicknamed Burna Boy, has lamented the fact that many Nigerians regard him as inferior to American artists.

According to Burna Boy, because he does not speak like an American artiste, many Nigerians believe he is not on the same level as them.

He stated this in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. The self-styled ‘African Giant’ claimed that his next album is a mocking response to detractors who have tried to undermine him in the past and presently.

“To this day, there are many Nigerians who can tell you an American rapper who has just started their career and say they’re bigger than Burna Boy,” he remarked. They’re not getting it. ‘There’s no way someone who talks like me can compete with American artists,’ they’ll say.
