Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, announced a new mass wedding initiative in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday. This event, in partnership with the Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (NANAS), is designed to assist underprivileged couples in fulfilling their marriage aspirations.

To ensure the legality and health safety of the couples, various committees have been formed to conduct essential medical screenings, including pregnancy tests, genotype compatibility tests, and HIV/AIDS tests, all in accordance with the state’s legal requirements for marriage.

Argungu highlighted that the mass wedding fulfills a commitment made by Governor Nasir Idris during a previous event, reinforcing the government’s ongoing support for marginalized individuals. As part of the initiative, the state government will contribute N180,000 in dowry for each bride, totaling N54 million to cover the dowries for 300 beneficiaries across 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
